If I was to take a vote on this topic on how many truly experience peace, I would like to think I already know the answer. Experiencing unexplainable and joyful peace is something I believe many people miss out on. Many teenagers proclaim to have obtained such peace, myself included. But not until recently have I truly encountered such a feeling, after truly surrendering to the will of my sweet Jesus. In general, it is the cool and acceptable thing to be a Christian. Therefore, many people proclaim peace in the name of Jesus and put on a mask of false Christianity. I have always been one of those people. Some even go over the top to convince others and possibly to convince themselves of their christianity. I seemed Christian in every way, but deep in my heart I lacked conviction. A name for this false humility. People do things and when asked to explain their actions, they simply say "To God be the glory!" That in fact is a humble reply. But again, when I would say this knowing I secretly wanted the glory and maybe I would share it with God. What I have learned is this. One problem with achieving humility is that it’s impossible to develop it
by working on it directly. The more you focus on humility, the more you are
focusing on yourself, whish is prideful. Who would have guessed that trying to become humble is prideful? In John 3:30 John the Baptist tells us, "He must become greater; I must become less." That's simply all humility requires. To focus on Christ more than ourselves and this will cause us to be humble. Within the last couple weeks I have decided to live a life completely surrendered to the will of Jesus, wholeheartedly. Also in the last couple weeks I have never experienced a more surreal, unexplainable, and humbling peace. Philippians 4:6 "The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I am no where done learning about my Jesus or the subject of humility. But, I am ecstatic with excitement about the thought of beginning to truly draw close to my creator.
